As I approached the Tarentum Exit, this rainbow was shooting out of the roof of Diamond Antiques! I could not capture the pic but take my word for it. (Ok, it was an optical illusion, but a good one tho)🌈

August clearance sale continues at the store.🫖

The planting season moves on.

Not too small with colorful fruit and the sweetness that only summer can bring, this tomato plant from Blackberry Meadows has served us well. It produced enough all season for salads and beyond. Perfect for a small household.

I always look forward to the day when the green houses start to clear out perennials. The beginning of the planting season for next summer starts on a new part of the natural border that I am expanding upon.

Since the kind folks from Maronda cut down the falling- over tree, it has opened a beautiful view of the field that was otherwise hidden and filled with brush. It looks like something out of a Shakespeare play! In the evening the lightening bugs rise up, the deer, squirrels and rabbits gather for dinner and it’s always a perfect time of day. The golden hour.

The August month-long sale at Diamond Antiques is in full swing so do a pop-in and watch us change with the season right along with the movement of the sun.

Enjoy the harvest by gathering extra cash for your wallet by saving 20% on anything over ten bucks!

Items that are marked “firm” are usually for a good reason so please take that into consideration when pondering a purchase that might be marked as such.

Shop the best store with the best finds with the best prices and the best clerks that keep bringing it!

My best to all three people that read this blog!

Really?

This is a great example of how merch becomes damaged during shipping. I still have to put the product on the shelf and hope the crinkled corners on the mixes don’t distract from what’s inside🙁. This was a problem with the carrier, not the company itself. Rabbit Creek quick breads are slowly making the way to the shop starting August 6th and I’m happy to bring these for the almost autumn 🍂

August Sale!

Come in and shop the month-long clearance sale at Diamond Antiques & Gifts at 311 E. Sixth Avenue in Tarentum. This is the place where you will find a twenty percent discount on items over ten smackers!

Here’s how it is. The vendors at Diamond Antiques & Gifts (and any antique store) work really hard to find, haul, repair or paint when necessary, and haul pieces once again to be placed in the store. That is no small task for most of the people that decide to bring you the best the Pittsburgh area has to offer in the way of antique, vintage and mcm furnishings and decor.

Here’s how it was. Last week a shopper came in and was amused by the discount restrictions. All two of them. She laughed and rolled her eyes as I told her about our upcoming August sale. The restriction is the item has to be over ten dollars (reasonable for sure) or anything marked as firm. I find that to be pretty reasonable in a retail store that already has not only great prices, but great finds as well. Out of thousands of items, very few are marked as firm.

Now, I am writing this opinion on behalf of myself at The Stillroom Tea shop which is located (for five years now) right inside the door of the fabulous Diamond Antiques & Gifts! I tend to mark a few things firm because I might have paid exorbitant amounts in just shipping charges alone. Yet I come back for more. lol

So, please don’t balk at a couple of minor restrictions. The store is full of really great treasures that you can save $$ on!

The autumn vibe is starting to vibe for retailers. August brings with it a noticeable movement in the position of the sun, the leaves start to look a little less green and the crispy ones are already hitting the ground. The mornings will get a little bit cooler as the month progresses and by the time the end of the month is here, we will be full blown into the mindset of autumn.

This is exciting. It’s a good thing our seasons are only three months each because I think we get pretty bored after a while. I think our seasons here in Southwest PA are perfect.

I have begun to order a few new things for the shelves. As the seasons change, so goes the giftware at the shop. I try to keep it fresh each season with the concentration in giftware made not only in the USA, but starting out locally.

I am trading in the locally made Jacks from the plastic container it currently comes in to a really nice vintage tin. I like the artwork on the tin and it’s a great storage situation for the jacks. Very cute indeed. I added a similar steeple chase game too. It looked like fun and easy to play and again with the artwork on the tin cover! These great little games are from a neighboring Pittsburgh suburb!

I’m trading (at least for now) the scone mixes, which I love and also realized I could shift the recipe around and make scone drops, I am keeping the same company only this season I’m trying the quick bread mixes. The added ingredients are a bit of melted butter, eggs and milk. I like this idea because there is no floured surface to clean up like with the scones. I’m all about the dishes. lol One of my co workers told me she saw this company selling their mixes in Victoria Magazine for $12.00 each. Come on, really? The Stillroom is more about bringing nice things to the valley for reasonable prices. Even though the shipping made my eyes pop out. I’m thinking I will just test this out. I still like the scones.

The first case I just opened has a few boxes that looked really beat up. That doesn’t really happen often but I do have to get ahold of them and see what I can do about that. UGH!

That’s what’s up!
