Here are some moody pictures I took at The Stillroom at Diamond Antiques this morning. The shop is open 10-5 today. I still carry my favorite little floral Flavigny pastilles and colorful Sunny Seeds and violet squares.
Harvesting has begun for dried florals and I am always amazed at the bounty of color, fragrance and flavor this good earth still blesses us with in spite of-
Ordering from my local wholesalers has begun. If it sounds like a new season is starting at mom and pop shops, it is! Our heads are already in the autumn and early winter!
Have a great summer and stay hydrated!
Oh, that last pic is a Nike shoe in the rain in the middle of the busy intersection. How does this happen?

That pretty much says it all, don’t you think?
The Stillroom has plenty of tea to choose from for the hot summer days ahead.
Stop in the shop as we start to transition from the temperate days of spring to the unbearably hot and humid days of summer.
The mornings start out just like the days we read about in books. The morning air is heavy at 6 a.m. and the haze is so thick you can’t see the hills across the river valley. These are they days I think about in the dead of winter and just like a snap of the fingers, here we are.
I keep plenty of ice on hand because I go through cubes like water, and well, let’s face it, the power lines are melting and transformers are blowing up. It’s another summer in the burgh and I think it’s a good idea to keep some good tea ready to quench and rehydrate the body with.
Brew it in the sun, on the stove or the hood of your car. It’s pretty much effortless for such a delightful beverage!
My new favorite tea for a hot and humid Pittsburgh summer is Harney & Sons Shakespeare’s Globe. A beautiful Midsummer Night’s tea is a blended black floral tea with orange peel, ginger root, oolong tea, vanilla and caramel flavors along with rose petals, blue cornflowers, black currant flavor and bergamot oil.
If that isn’t a summer bouquet from the garden, I don’t know what is!
Stop in and pick some flowers from The Stillroom. The shop is so much more than tea although it has been the star of The Stillroom for almost 20 years!
Yes! Â You read that right…there has been a great tea shop in your hood for that long.
Stop by, say hi and don’t let the sun catch you without an icy glass of tea. It is so good you might just dump it on your head!
The Stillroom tea shop is located right inside the door of Diamond Antiques and Gifts

Stop in and step back in time as you enter the doors of Diamond.
A fine old building sandwiched between Massart’s historic diner and The Buzz!
So worth it!

Just hanging out. Doors wide open after the storm today. I discovered something about myself this week I found fascinating. I’m an introvert who enjoys socializing. I think that might be kind of messed up. I wonder if it has anything to do with being ambidextrous. (Both handed, lol)

I kept one of the Edison solar lights to be sure they were great and they are! You can now find them in The Stillroom window for sale. How about that deer that paid a visit to the back forty!
