Closing in on Christmas 2020! Christmas is taking on a simplicity that I am coming to appreciate. I put the tree up this afternoon. So far, the newish kitty seems to have no interest. I’m holding off on ornaments. I love to melt into the soft glow of just the tiny colored lights. Plus, said newish kitty might decide to take a go at it in the middle of the night.

I need to mention that Diamond Antiques is in the midst of the annual December sale! You have the rest of the month to visit and find simple treasures.

The Angel head in my picture is from Diamond Antiques. She is a cool piece of art and adds a sense of comfort to the space. I bought her last year and I like her so much I keep her hanging about all year. Let me just say she was well under ten dollars! Diamond Antiques is full of smalls that have great visual impact! The hunt is the fun part of shopping here!

Need to put together an awesome gift basket? I think the store has you covered.

From dining tables and chairs for the roast beast to dainty teacups for your afternoon tea break, it’s pretty much all under one roof.

Speaking of tea, The Stillroom has lined up a new tea product for a new year. Ever hear of tea drops? They have been ordered and I’m pretty stoked about discovering this new way to have your tea.

The Tea Drop Co. is a small wholesale, woman- owned business and I’m so excited to bring this unique tea into the fold.

It will be on the shelves by the first blast of winter!

Stay safe and drink your tea.

This beautiful girl was found at Diamond Antiques in Tarentum. Working there can be an occupational hazard at times. A good part of my house is from there! Visit The Stillroom while you are at Diamond Antiques looking for treasures. They abound and astound!

This goes right to our own neighbors that might be suffering in silence. Diamond Antiques is a drop off point for any donations that you might want to give. It has undoubtedly been a very trying year and especially so for many that were having a rough go of it before the year even started. So, on that I ask you humbly to think about giving even the smallest of donations. No donation is too little. It all adds up! Wanna’ spread something? Spread some joy. Go for it!

Shopping local and buying local. It all rolls from one to the other. I had posted a while ago about how I shop local as a shop owner.

For me, it starts at “where can I buy wholesale products that are local?” I consider local anything east of the Mississippi.

I support smaller wholesale businesses. I want to bring the best of what I like and enjoy to The Stillroom.

This year I gambled a little by purchasing items with a shelf life. This can be a risky thing to do and I have avoided it to a degree in the past. But that was then and this is now.

I started out with smaller jars of clotted cream and jam. I have added maple products and scone mixes. I know, people think scones are dry and boring. They aren’t. These are cream scones. All you do is add heavy cream and they are excellent!

This is a reminder to you, that you don’t have to travel to the strip for some things that you can find right here in The Stillroom!

From the Harney & Sons loose teas to the jars of maple cream, it is you that helps this engine keep going, which in turn helps the wholesale supplier. The edibles that you will find in the shop are from local, east coast suppliers!

I strive to bring products made in the US and have been doing that since The Stillroom first opened in 2001. Although I like to add, it is a global economy and tea does come from China!

The shop still carries the usual accent pieces and dry goods that you have seen pop up over the years. Old, new, vintage, antique, hats, gloves, cool stuffs, you get it.

So, on that note it is Small Business Saturday.

Think small!
