RIP Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne. I loved this band. He passed from the virus😢
If you saw the Tom Hanks movie That Thing you Do, Adam wrote the music for that and so much more.

Foolin around
This sound reminded me of Todd Rundgren. I was (and still am) a fan of his music. I remember his first Pittsburgh concert way way back. I think it was the release of his Wizard a True Star tour. One of if not my first concerts in 1973.
Anyhow, I am passing my days here on the farm until this pandemic passes.
Don’t go foolin’ around with this virus. If the president is not able to lead this country, (and he clearly can not) listen to your local people and stay in.
Listen to the science.

moving forward while being forced to move inward. just what are we made of. this is the time to figure this out.
it is difficult. all of it. trucks have to roll. hospitals have to roll. the mail has to move. how to navigate this when we can’t navigate is a real puzzle.
we don’t realize how much we touch until we have to. touch the gas pump, your door handle, the steering wheel.
did that clerk just sneeze as they scanned the beans.
should I change my gloves after shopping, or after i’m in my car.
wipe down the steering wheel, the groceries, transfer goods from boxes to plastic bags.
wash my hands every time I touch something outside of my house.
pick my mail up with a clothespin clip and put it in the garage a few days then handle it with gloves.
the list is endless.
it attacks the senses.
lose your smell, taste, don’t touch, wear eye protection.
we are left with hearing.
for this we should be grateful.
social distancing is the order of the day. every day for what I think will be for more than another month and that is cockeyed optimism on my part.
try and support your favorite small businesses. grab a gift certificate for future use. buy a gift card for coffee for a friend.
big box, big business, big chains will survive this mess.
we can’t let small business fall away.
we can’t save it all either. not when most are struggling this uncharted territory.
all I know is when the store re opens when this is over, we will be more than over the moon.
perhaps we will be on the moon.
stay safe.
stay home.
wash your hands.
stay hopeful.
stay helpful.
do your part. whatever that may be.
this is when we find out who we are.
this is when we discover what we are made of.

Before and after. Or it could be after and before. Anyhow, cutting back the lemon grass is pleasant because the air fills with the scent of lemon! Not bad. The Stillroom is closed for the foreseeable future. This too, shall pass. In the meantime, enjoy the sounds of birds still singing and the peepers are peeping. Spring is here!

Our Lady Undoer of Knots
Mary is shown as the Queen of Heaven, a crown of twelve stars surrounds her head with the Holy Spirit as the Dove above her, standing on a knotted serpent and a new moon.
Holy Mother, undoer of knots, may the unknotted cords of your wisdom free us from the knotted confusions of our minds, so we are rendered harmless and move in the world with clarity of mind and kindness of heart.

The Stillroom is closed until further notice. Stay safe!
However, if there is anything that strikes your fancy in these unprecedented times, check the facebook pictures that our fearless leader at Diamond Antiques and Gifts is posting. There is an experimental, never before utilized curb service available. It’s the new normal for the foreseeable future.

So I grabbed this oldish wicker shelf at the local thrift store. When working with limited space I need to work vertically and this lucky find is a perfect fit. I hung all of the star, moon and sun crystals from the top of it but I didn’t hang around to take a pic. Maybe tomorrow.
