Heavy hearts in our town💔 I can’t even process the horrid act that happened to the Squirrel Hill community this past weekend.  We were driving in that area and could not figure out why we saw police cars from Shaler and other jurisdictions with sirens blaring past us stopping all traffic to let them through.  I would never in my wildest dreams imagine the terror unfolding just blocks away. The city that we all love so much will never be the same.
I can’t imagine a 97 year old person doing something as simple as showing up to worship could be gunned down by a madman.
The Tree of Life Synagogue is a building that we would drive by many times on any given  Saturday.  I always enjoyed seeing the people on their way to services. Walking, pushing strollers, kids running around as they made their way to their places of worship.  The streets of Squirrel Hill were full of life.  What a difference a day makes.
How hard would it be to be the Jewish doctor or nurse that had to help keep this sub human alive? Â I don’t know that I could be so generous of heart.
I normally like to write about The Stillroom or the most current happenings at Diamond Antiques but today, today I am mourning these losses as if they were my own family.
I know we will heal as a city. Â Rabbi Meyers said you can cut off the the branches of the Tree of Life Synagogue, but it will keep growing. Â I can only hope that this country can move forward in peace and love.
Anyhow, I love this song by the Grateful Dead, Box of Rain. Â “What do you want me to do, to do for you, to see you through?”
